Why Somatic Sex Education (SSE) & Sexological Bodywork?
SSE and Sexological Bodywork came to me as another courageous step in my own journey and desire to live with more ease and love. After years of studying and practicing yoga and energy work, and using foods as medicine as a way to heal holistically, I was still missing a key to myself. My journey to somatic sex education stemmed from my dissatisfaction of not having access to safe-enough spaces to explore and express felt-sense and deep feeling states. I often felt frustrated and alone. I was and am curious about all the gems of wisdom that my body offers me every day and wanted more tools for deep listening and trust.
My curiosity and longing to seek connection for continued exploration led me to the Institute for the Study of Somatic Sex Education in 2019 where I found a learning arena rich in depth. In becoming a student at the Institute, I found a container for embodiment practices, and have immensely enjoyed learning and practicing so many aspects such as communication of boundaries, and consent. Since then, I have been immersed in Somatic Sex Education, and Sexological Bodywork, feeling deeply connected to the learning and practices, while being a part of a supportive and nurturing community.
From my learnings, I was ignited by a desire to assist others home into their body through touch, and engaging with tools such as breath, movement and sound. Being immersed in these practices has added so much permission to be embodied in my life, and I look forward to sharing and growing in this not-so-radical, radical modality and practice, as a guide for those seeking to know more deeply their body’s wisdom and natural intelligence.
